Wise Aging
Baby boomers and empty nesters are pioneers in understanding and making the most of the “third chapter” of life, years full of potential for learning and growth. Wise Aging is a program designed to offer rich Jewish resources and support for living these years with spirit, resilience, and wisdom. Under Rabbi Shelly's expert supervision, participants are guided through reflective work that enables them to come to new understandings about their lives and their values, and new insights about themselves and their potential.
The foundational text for this series is Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience and Spirit, by Rabbi Rachel Cowan and Dr. Linda Thal (published by Behrman House, June, 2015). Participants will want their own copy of this book, available on Amazon for $13 to $14.
Topics include: becoming one’s authentic self; relating to our bodies as we age; nourishing and renewing healthy relationships; discovering qualities of soul; practicing forgiveness; learning to live with loss, change, and death; creating meaningful rituals; cultivating wisdom; and leaving a legacy.
Five sessions in Fall 2017. Meets at Beth Israel, every other Tuesday morning, 10:00-12:00, from Oct 17 to Dec 12, 2017.
