How will the course proceed?
- In our first session, you will be introduced to all the consonants and most of the vowels, and you will be able to read one-syllable words.
- Over the following two weeks you will be able to practice reading and writing using worksheets and video files available online. (Even though this course is about reading, I’ll encourage you to practice writing the letters as well, since this is a shortcut to help your brain hold onto their shapes.)
- An optional session offered on the intermediate Thursday will give you the opportunity to practice your new skills.
- In our second session, we will focus on putting syllables together into words and phrase. Online print and video resources will give you experience reading real Hebrew words from the Bible and the Prayer Book.
- Helen Plotkin (helen@mekomtorah.org) will be available to answer questions for the rest of her life!
