A new Mekom Torah offering:
Custom Learning Groups for Teachers and Parents
Enthusiasm about Jewish learning is infectious. If the people who are raising and educating Jewish children are themselves engaged in meaningful Jewish learning to inform their own spiritual, intellectual, and moral lives - if they find Jewish learning to be important for themselves - then the children in their charge are more likely to step into meaningful engagement.
1. For Parents: Mekom Torah designs programs for religious schools and Jewish child care centers to offer Torah learning to the parents of their students. The aim is to offer sessions that are delicious and nourishing for the adult Jewish selves of the parents. The learning will not directly address issues of parenting. Instead, it will explore the rich traditions and challenging controversies that make Judaism vibrant, transcending the juvenile formulations that are available to our children. Check back here for some sample topics. Contact us using the form below to discuss possibilities for engaging parents in your community.
2. For Teachers: Mekom Torah offers learning sessions to transform the teaching staff of a religious school into a learning cohort. The learning is not directly aimed at developing lesson plans or improving teaching methods. Instead, by giving them a chance to grapple on their own terms with the depth and challenge of Jewish ideas, the aim is to make the staff members into vessels of the tradition that they hope to pass on to their students.
